Yesterday was a lazy do nothing day. I just sat around watching TV. That night I went to the Big Apple Corp gay and lesbian community band rehearsal. I sat in and played in their rehearsal. It's interesting to see how other bands rehearse. How every band has the same kind of problems. How a conductor handles a group. The first chair flute came up to me during the break and said he used to live in Hawaii in the early 90s. He is a flight attendant for Continental and was based there. He looked to be in his early 50s very distinguished. He looked like a ballet mistress.....aloof and elegant. But he was really nice and said he would love to sit in our rehearsal if he's ever back in town.
After the rehearsal I met Russell and his friend David at a bar near my apt called Therapy. Very trendy, very young. On Monday nights they have something special. Last night they had a singer Kimberly Locke. I had no idea who she was. haha..not surprisingly. She was a contestant on American Idol. Beautiful voice....
Next bar was called Posh, even closer to my apt., just around the corner. By this time Russell was RIPPED KEIA! We were sitting on the corner of the bar and this huge line backer sized guy kept bumping into Russell. It was pissing him off! Finally Russell said something to him. The guy just laughed and it made Russell even more mad. The more angry Russell got the more the guy egged him on. It was funny to see, but alittle scary because you don't now what he's going to do. Finally the guy moved away and Russell kind of settled down. Next thing we know, he disappears. It wasn't long before I told David I had to go too. I didn't want to be hung over today because I need to go shopping. It's my last full day here and I don't want it to end up like yesterday.
So....here I am, my last day in NYC. I had a really good time again this year. The shows were all excellent. I didn't see as much live music as I would have liked to though. One thing for sure....I got FAT! gross....
