After seeing last nights performance of 'Brooklyn' I have devised a new rating system, the Ms. Kiki goose bump system. 5 bumps being the best 1 being the worse. This show rated a 4.5 goose bumps. I took of 1/2 a bump because the story was little weak. The cast, 3 women 2 men, were exceptional. I recognized Karen Olivo from 'Rent' as Mimi. One cast member, Eden Espinosa, stood out. She sang the show stopper 'Once upon a time'. The style is what you hear in American Idol. Starts off soft in a comfortable octave, then soaring 3 octaves. Truly amazing talent. When the song was over she had to acknowledge the audience because they wouldn't stop clapping. Hear it for yourself: http://www.brooklynthemusical.com/ click on the music link.
This time of year all the Broadway shows raise money to help AIDs and Breast cancer. For a $20 donation I got a Playbill signed by the entire cast. I forgot to mention the couple that sat behind me. They were wearing matching fur coats, matching Louis Vuitton bags, bling bling for days. They guy had what looked like a one karat daimond ear ring. They looked like extras from the Saparno's....can we say guido?

After the show I went to a restaurant suggested to me by a girl in my band who just moved to Hawaii from NY. It is a BBQ ribs place right in Times Square. I don't know if its because it was late in the night or thats how their ribs were, but they were alittle on the dry side. Otherwise everything was pretty nice. Lots of food. I had planned on going out for a drink after dinner, but was so bloated all I could think of was sleep.

Last nights celebrity spotting was Jai from the Fab Five. He was waiting in front of the theater.

Tonight's show is 'Pacific Overture' a Steven Sondheim revival.
